E-mails have long since proven themselves as a fast and cost-effective information medium.
E-mail distributors use these advantages to stay in contact with a large number of recipients in a variety of ways.
DFN-Listserv manages e-mail distribution lists on behalf of the "Verein zur Förderung eines deutschen Forschungsnetzes e.V." (DFN-Verein, Berlin).
Institutions that want to use DFN-Listserv must agree to the terms and conditions of the "DFN-Anwenderrahmenvertrag" and must be physically connected to the DFN (Deutsches Forschungsnetz - the German NREN). The fee for using DFN-List is already included in the fee for DFNInternet.
This server provides you access to your mailing list environment. Starting from this web page, you can perform subscription options, unsubscription, archive, list moderation, list configuration.
If you have any questions please write an e-mail to listmaster@listserv.dfn.de.
To create a new list, please login with your e-mail address and your DFN-Listserv password.
If you have not yet set a password, click on "First login" in the menu "Login" in the upper right corner and follow the instructions.
You will then see a "Request a list" tab that takes you to a form for creating a new list.
The list then only needs to be released by a listmaster.

Deletion of log data after one month
The log data, which you as the owner can access on the administration page of a mailing list under “Logs”, will now only be kept for one month instead of the previous three months for data protection reasons.

“New function “Allowed senders” and “Moderated senders”
On the KIT mailing list server, it is now possible to assign sending authorizations via the address lists “Blocked senders”, “Moderated senders” and “Allowed senders”. Information on this can be found on the website with the administrators FAQ.

For new mailing lists that are created according to a template, the default value for the “Protection modes” parameter under “DMARC protection” has been set to “all” (instead of “DMARC policy suggests rejection” as before).
This parameter can be found on the administration page of the list under “Edit list configuration” -> “DKIM/DMARC/ARC”.
As a result, the e-mail address of the list is set as the From address instead of the e-mail address of the original sender for all e-mails sent via the list.

AVV pilot operation in 2023
The administrative framework of the DFN-ListServ service is currently undergoing a revision. As a first result, the retrieval of an data processing agreement (DPA) is available to all interested institutions. If you see a need, please feel free to contact us at listserv@dfn.de! The piloting of the current AVV version will end at the turn of the year 2023 / 2024 and will then be continued with a revised version on January 1, 2024.
